AMARANTHE (Se) / SELF DECEPTION (Se) / ANKOR (Es)

The famous Swedish symphonic metal band Amaranthe is returning to Riga for a concert!

Heavy music fans in Latvia and the Baltics have a pleasant reunion to look forward to this year: on November 3, the Swedish melodic symphonic metal band Amaranthe will perform at the Spelet concert hall. It has been two years since the group last visited Riga, and their fan base in this region has only grown since then.

Amaranthe were founded in 2008 in Gothenburg. The band’s main strength lies in its three vocalists: Elize Ryd performs the so-called clean vocals, while the two men, Nils Molin and Mikael Sehlin, deliver both clean and harsh singing styles. Together, it sounds highly impressive, as local music fans were able to confirm in March 2024, when the Swedish band visited Latvia for the first time and performed at Palladium concert hall, presenting their latest studio album, The Catalyst. In total, Amaranthe have released six studio albums, with Maximalism (2016) and Manifest (2020) even reaching number one on the US Billboard Heatseeker chart.

At the Riga concert, the Swedish symphonic metal band will be warmed up by the alternative metal group Self Deception from Sweden and Ankor from Catalonia. While the latter are mostly remembered for their female duo, Jessie Williams on vocals and Eleni Nota on drums (the band has already released six albums), Self Deception are a very serious force in European metal music. This Stockholm-based band has been around for 20 years, and they also have six studio albums to their name, but the most exciting part is that in mid-May a new album, One Of Us, will be released under the respected label Napalm Records, and the newly released current single The Wedding shows that it will be a true modern metal masterpiece!
