BILDES 2026 | “BILŽU” Closing Concert

The concert will feature new bands that are still little known to a wider audience and have not yet performed at BILDES, creating special joint projects with their musical role models - musicians already well known and beloved in Latvia. Particularly interesting in this concert will be the moments when seemingly different musical styles and generations meet in one joint project.

The young performers will play two songs on stage. One will be their own original song, while the other - in a new, specially created arrangement - will be a song by a BILDES veteran, performed by the young musicians together with its author or performer.

For the young musicians, it is a chance to meet their musical role models, while for the experienced artists it is a chance to see and hear the creative perspective of the new generation.

At least 10 new bands will take part in the concert. Selection of the new bands is taking place until October 1.

The concert will also feature special guests. Actress, songwriter and singer, and a BILDES participant since 2002, Zane Dombrovska, will perform with the band Kumosins. Together with the musicians of Atkala, Juris Kaukulis, the leader of Dzelzs Vilks and the Jauno Janju Orkestris, and a BILDES participant since 1993, will take the stage.

For both younger and older listeners, this concert will be a chance to discover music they have not yet encountered.

During its history, the festival stage has seen the first major performances of bands and performers who are now legendary, including Liepajas Braļi, Opus Pro, Labveligais tips, Dzidriņas megasistēma, Ivars Petersons, UFO, Putnu Balle, Oranzās brīvdienas, Jauns mēness, Hospitāļu iela, and others.

It is possible that some of the young musicians will also help shape the history of popular music in Latvia in the future.
