BORIS / Planning for Burial
Boris is coming to Riga with the 20th anniversary tour for their album “Pink”! Get ready for heavy sounds from Japan!
Boris was formed in 1992, but it reached its current lineup, Takeshi, Wata and Atsuo, in 1996. Since then, the band has relentlessly explored its own understanding of “heaviness” through a uniquely personal approach. Although their music has become increasingly intense, Boris’s distinctive sound keeps them from being confined to any single genre - this is true “heavy music” in the broadest and most extreme sense. Their work is considered one of the cornerstones of avant-garde rock, and its influence is still felt around the world. Boris goes beyond simply sounding “loud” or “heavy” - their music is an experience in itself.
Planning for Burial is the solo project of Thom Wasluck from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, known for his DIY approach - he records the music himself, creates the visual design, and performs as a one-man project. He also organizes his own tours, maintaining complete creative control over his work. The debut album Leaving was released in 2009 on Enemies List Home Recordings. In 2014, he joined The Flenser, releasing the album Desideratum, followed by Below the House in 2017. His fourth album, It’s Closeness, It’s Easy, was released on May 30, 2025, on The Flenser. One of the highlights of his career was performing at the Meltdown Festival in London in 2018, curated by Robert Smith. In 2025, Planning for Burial celebrates its 20th anniversary.
