About the program:

The name Trio Tresensus plays with the idea of three sensations, whose synthesis

leads into an as yet undiscovered world of sound. In this musical adventure, in search of

fresh colors, feelings, and nuances of sound, three talents have joined forces since December

2015: kokle player Līga Griķe, saxophonist Aigars Raumanis

and percussionist Uģis Upenieks. The trio says: “The concert program reveals

a musical bridge between generations - from the Latvian classic Arvīds Žilinskis to his

great-grandson, composer and pianist Matīss Žilinskis. The concert is built around

three sensations: the first is Arvīds Žilinskis’s pieces in new, colorful

instrumentations for kokle, saxophone, and percussion; the second is Matīss

Žilinskis’s original music; and the third is Arvīds Žilinskis’s cycle “Scenes from Childhood”

in Matīss’s arrangement, recalling miniatures that have become for several generations

the first memories of learning music.”
