“Mamma Mia!”, “Chicago”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Cats”, “West Side Story”, “The Phantom of the Opera”...

Music from legendary musicals that have been performed for decades on the stages of Broadway and the West End and have long become part of world music culture.

The BROADWAY program will feature famous arias and songs from musicals of different eras, from the classics of the genre to works known far beyond the musical theater stage.

The vocal parts will be performed by soloists of the Latvian National Opera. Their voices will meet an instrumentation unusual for Broadway music: organ, violin, cello, and percussion.

Performers:

Jūlija Vasiļjeva – soprano

Artjoms Safronovs – tenor

Irina Viļegžaņina – cello

Gidons Grīnbergs – violin

Virdžīnija Laube-Vītiņa – percussion

Ilona Birģele – organ

This combination of instruments will allow familiar works to be heard anew, from intimate musical moments to powerful climaxes of the full ensemble.

Under the neo-Gothic vaults of St. Paul's Church, the spacious church acoustics, architecture, and lighting design will give the familiar music a special scale.

BROADWAY - a bright end to the year accompanied by the music of legendary musicals.
