EKLEKTIKA @ FAKULTĀTE

5 November, EKLEKTIKA

An evening for those who look for the unexpected in music - improvisation, jazz, funk, and sound experiments beyond the usual genre boundaries.

EKLEKTIKA is drums with two horns - an instrumental music trio from Riga, featuring drummer Kārlis Roberts Kalējs, saxophonist Rūdolfs Pēteris Rubenis, and clarinetist Artūrs Bariss.

Their unusual instrumentation creates EKLEKTIKA's distinctive sound, where meditative improvisation meets elements of jazz, funk, Eastern, minimalist, progressive, and psychedelic music. Although the core of the band is drums and two wind instruments, the trio also embraces experiments with other instruments and sounds in their music.

Their self-produced debut album “Encounters,” released in 2024, received several Zelta Mikrofons and GAMMA nominations, including Best Debut Album, Best Jazz, Funk or Soul Album, New Artist of the Year, and Jazz or Funk Artist of the Year.

EKLEKTIKA takes listeners on a musical journey through the world of sound and frequencies, allowing each person to experience the trio's music in their own way.
