"There Is One Evening" and "Song of the Soul," "Close Your Little Eyes and Smile" and "Little Happiness"

These are pages of Latvian vocal lyric poetry that resonate especially warmly with each of us.

They are deeply personally meaningful to singer Elīna Šimkus and pianist

Vestards Šimkus as well. A duo not only on stage but also in life, this

duo is bound by a special and immediate mutual understanding. In this program

both artists will together relive stories painted in sound by Jāzeps and Jānis Mediņš, Emīls Dārziņš,

Jāzeps Vītols, and Ēriks Ešenvalds, set to the verses of outstanding poets.

Alongside them are Vestards's own compositions, written both for

his instrument and the voice of the woman he loves.

The concert is created in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia and VSIA “Latvijas koncerti”
