BREATH
Intimacy in Person
Translated from English by Gints Andžāns
Premiere - 15 July 2020
A play in 1 act
They are two and young. A woman and a man. When the thought of having a child comes into their minds, it is accompanied by many reasons why it is not a good idea. For example, the Earth is dying, so the responsible thing would be not to have children, but to plant forests...
Yet most people have children instead of thinking about how to revive the planet's lungs. So why are they confused now?
Private catastrophes, unlike those scientists predict for the planet, happen quickly and unexpectedly. They take your breath away without warning. How do you get it back? And why?
In this one-act love story, the audience will have the chance to clearly see themselves, as they witness the relationship between a loving couple over the course of a lifetime and discover a healthy dose of their own life's comedy, which in the rush of everyday life has turned into fear, doubt, making the "big" decisions, caring about the world, and preserving relationships.
