An Ordinary Monday

Director: Valters Sīlis

A collage of the working day

Everyone has their own rhythm for how we wake up to go to work. Some wake up several hours before leaving home so they can slowly get ready for the day. Others wait until the last moment and prepare for the day in a rush. It is Monday morning, and for many it is the first day after the weekend. Some have rotating schedules and their day off may be tomorrow. Almost every job, when seen from the outside, seems either too physically demanding, too boring, or too stressful, but the people who do this work have found their own rhythm, their own technique, and their own joy and satisfaction in what they do. But there are jobs that, from the outside, seem almost impossible, and yet people do them. There are people who, in their everyday lives, come to know the full palette of human character and are in direct contact with the lives, dramas, and fateful choices of countless people.

The performance will follow the ordinary everyday lives of six characters, which for many of us would perhaps be the most unusual day of all. What do these characters' everyday lives reveal about the environment in which we actually live and often choose not to notice? How do the characters in the performance learn to live with the fact that their Mondays are anything but ordinary, unlike those of the rest of us.
