Erik Bosgraaf & Baltic Baroque Orchestra | Open Rehearsal “On the Road to London”
On November 8 at the Collegium Musicum Riga concert hall, listeners will have a rare chance to experience the making of an international concert project - an open rehearsal by the Baltic Baroque Orchestra together with the world-renowned recorder player Erik Bosgraaf (the Netherlands).
Already the week after this rehearsal, the orchestra will head to London to perform at one of the world’s most important early music festivals - the London International Festival of Early Music (LIFEM).
During the open rehearsal, listeners will be present at the moment when the concert program is taking shape, hear how the musicians together with artistic director Māris Kupčs as well as soloist and conductor Erik Bosgraaf refine the nuances of interpretation and prepare for an international concert tour.
The program will feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s four orchestral suites (Ouvertures):
🎼 Suite No. 1 in C Major, BWV 1066
🎼 Suite No. 2 in B Minor, BWV 1067
🎼 Suite No. 3 in D Major, BWV 1068
🎼 Suite No. 4 in D Major, BWV 1069
This evening will also be special because it will take place one day before the 60th birthday of the Baltic Baroque Orchestra’s artistic director Māris Kupčs, becoming a symbolic milestone on the road to an important international event.
An open rehearsal is not a concert in the traditional sense - it is a chance to see classical music in the making, to be present at creative work, and to experience the everyday life of professional musicians from a completely different perspective.
Duration: up to 2 hours
Please note that the course of the rehearsal and the order of the repertoire may be changed according to artistic needs.
