Festival European Christmas. Silent Night. Latvian Radio Choir and Arve Henriksen
Arve Henriksen is one of the most sought-after and original contemporary European trumpet players today. Henriksen's sound is instantly recognizable - in his hands, the trumpet does not seek its usual brilliance, but turns almost into a human voice - fragile, breathing, and unusually emotional. Arve Henriksen is a frequent guest at the world's most renowned festivals and concert halls, while his album "Cartography" has become one of the most important recordings of ambient and improvised music of the 21st century.
Together with the Latvian Radio Choir and conductor Kaspars Putniņš, Henriksen has created the concert program "Silent Night", which will be one of this winter's most special musical events. From early church chants to the music of Renaissance masters and the Christmas chorale "Silent Night, Holy Night", the program reminds us that humanity's desire to seek peace, hope, and light has not changed. Arve Henriksen's improvisations will become a natural continuation of Gregorian chant and Renaissance choral polyphony. They will flow into ancient music as another voice, continuing the musical current that has formed over the centuries, allowing it to continue in another time and in another language.
