The Idiot. Three Facets of Love
"The Idiot. Three Facets of Love"
A love and philosophical drama based on motifs from F. Dostoevsky's novel
A profound reading of a classic by the Riga guest-performance theatre "A"!
📖 A masterpiece that sounds contemporary
F. Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" is one of the most provocative novels in the history of world literature. It is the story of a person who dares to enter society with a completely open heart and inevitably collides with its cruel and cynical rules.
🌍 About the production and the international cast
Our theatre offers a new vision of this outstanding story. We have brought together a strong international acting team from Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, and Spain to create a living, pulsating space on stage.
💔 Plot: A love triangle on the edge of possibility
Prince Lev Myshkin returns to Russia from Switzerland and instantly finds himself at the very center of a whirlpool of intrigue and broken fates. The director's concept places the prince's love story and his painful choice at the center. He is torn between rescue and passion, between hope and destruction, trying to "set right" another person's fate where it seems impossible.
✨ A new perspective: without heaviness
We invite you to look at Dostoevsky up close: here every glance and every touch becomes an event. The performance sounds light and compelling - we have removed unnecessary heaviness, added a lively rhythm, and introduced subtle irony. Here tension alternates with kindness, and the finale leaves not despair, but faith in humanity and the possibility of light.
