Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča, Mārcis Auziņš and Raimonds Ozols | Silver and Velvet
In the run-up to Christmas, three artists whose sounds complement each other perfectly will meet at Riga Luther Church in Torņakalns: soprano, violin and guitar. Silver symbolizes the clear sound of the soprano and violin, while velvet represents the warm and gentle sound of the guitar.
The program will feature Enya's Only Time, Perfect Day, Albinoni's Adagio and Bellini's aria Casta Diva, as well as Mārcis Auziņš's piece City Pulse. The evening's atmosphere will also be enriched by Christmas melodies.
Inga Šļubovska-Kancēviča (soprano) is a soloist of the Latvian National Opera. Inga has received recognition as the opera's best soloist, and she has won international vocal competitions. Latvian composers, including Pēteris Vasks and Ingmārs Zemzaris, have dedicated their works to Inga.
Raimonds Ozols (violin) is an internationally acclaimed violinist and an Officer of the Order of the Three Stars. For many years, Raimonds was the concertmaster of the first violin section of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. Ozols has performed with Mariss Jansons, Mstislav Rostropovich, Mischa Maisky, Inese Galante and Raimonds Pauls, and has also recorded the Christmas album Svētkiem vijoties. His violin playing is equally highly valued in both classical and popular music.
Mārcis Auziņš (guitar) is one of Latvia's best fingerstyle guitarists, a composer and arranger. He is the author of several albums, two of which were nominated for the Latvian Music Recording of the Year Award. Auziņš has created music for theater productions and collaborated with Latvia's best musicians.
