LU TDA “Dancis” 80th Anniversary Concert “Faithful to Dance”

For eight decades, the dancers of the Latvian University Folk Dance Ensemble “Dancis” have remained faithfully devoted to dance. Over the years, outstanding artistic directors have followed one another, countless wonderful dances have been created, and many creative choreographers have worked with us. That is why, at the 80th anniversary concert, we will remain faithful to “Dancis” as well and dance the pieces that were created right here in our ensemble and have, over time, taken root as the ones closest to our hearts.

From Harijs Sūna’s “By the Daugava” to dances that have long not been brought into the stage lights and even the premiere of a new work by the Dančinieki themselves, the concert program will be presented to the audience this time not by one, but by three “Dancis” groups. We will share the stage with our alma mater, the Latvian University middle-generation dance group “Dancis” and the vocal ensemble “Dancis,” bringing together in the anniversary celebration everyone who bears the name Dancis.

We invite all our friends and enthusiasts of Latvian stage folk dance to the 80th anniversary concert of “Dancis” at the VEF Culture Palace on November 22 - let us celebrate together!
