Exhibition of knitted items by Ilze Haka "100 Socks for Latvia" - Jelgava
The exhibition Vacationer on the Way to Jūrmala invites visitors to experience the journey to the resort, full of emotions and anticipation. It is arranged to invite visitors to seemingly squeeze into crowded transport packed with vacationers and experience the journey to Jūrmala through time. Get your ticket, do not miss the ride, and maybe you will glimpse over someone’s shoulder the long-awaited meeting with the sea! Amid the everyday bustle of vacationers, the rattling of carts, and the rhythmic clacking of train tracks, you may accidentally hear some stranger’s conversation. Just be careful - do not step on your neighbor’s bundle of strawberries while trying to work your lounger and sunshade out through the train door!
In the audiovisual space, through different senses - hearing, sight, touch - there will be an opportunity to immerse yourself in the mood of the journey, while also discovering how differently the road to Jūrmala has looked in various periods - in the era of carriages, steamships, and later railway transport. The audiovisual landscape included in the exhibition will let you sink into the passing views seen from a train carriage window on the Riga - Dubulti route, creating an authentically vivid experience.
Compositionaly, the exhibition is designed as a journey from the starting point - whether a boat pier or a railway ticket office - to the desired destination, the seaside resort town, with various "stops" experienced along the way.
