Arve Henriksen, jazz trumpet

Latvian Radio Choir

Conductor Kaspars Putniņš

Arve Henriksen is one of the most sought-after and original European contemporary trumpet players today. Henriksen's sound is instantly recognizable - in his hands the trumpet does not crave its usual brilliance, but transforms into almost a human voice - fragile, breathing, and unusually emotional. Arve Henriksen is a frequent guest at the world's most prominent festivals and concert halls, while his album Cartography (ECM) has become one of the most important recordings of ambient and improvised music of the 21st century.

Together with the Latvian Radio Choir and conductor Kaspars Putniņš, Henriksen has created the concert program "Silent Night," which will become one of this winter's most special musical events. It continues the successful collaboration after the concert performance "Night Letters to a Dancer," which in 2025 was nominated for the Great Music Award in the category "Concert of the Year."

From early church chants to the music of Renaissance masters and the Christmas carol "Silent Night, Holy Night," the program reminds us that the human desire to seek peace, hope, and light has not changed. Arve Henriksen's improvisations will become a natural continuation of Gregorian chant and Renaissance choral polyphony. They will flow into ancient music as another voice, continuing the musical stream formed over the centuries, allowing it to continue in another time and another language.
