The Fourth Concert in the Concert Series “Conversations in the Palace with Music” “The Perfect and the Transient”

What makes a work of art beautiful? Is perfection eternal, or does time reveal its value? On 21 November, the White Hall of Rundāle Palace Museum will host a Baroque music concert devoted to these questions, “The Perfect and the Transient: Beauty and Time”.

In the Baroque era, beauty was not just outward splendour - it was revealed in harmony, proportion, and the ability to bring seemingly opposite qualities together. In the architecture and interiors of Rundāle Palace, too, perfection and the transient, the historical and the contemporary, coexist. The concert invites listeners to look anew at this interplay, discovering not only well-known Baroque masterpieces, but also lesser-known and surprising works.

The programme will feature works by the Italian Baroque composers Marco Uccellini, Agostino Steffani, Antonio Caldara, Leonardo Vinci, Pietro Locatelli, and Antonio Vivaldi. Alongside Vivaldi’s more familiar music, listeners will also have the chance to discover pieces rarely performed in Latvia and unusual instrumental combinations that reveal the diversity and creative richness of the Italian Baroque.

A special atmosphere will be created by the unusual instrumental ensemble, bringing together the traditions of early music and a contemporary interpretation.

The performers will be Anda Eglīte - bass kokle, Dace Priedīte - concert kokle, Artūrs Noviks - accordion, bandoneon, and Lāsma Meldere-Šestakova - Baroque violin.

Before the concert, visitors will have the opportunity to take advantage of a special offer - the concert ticket price (20 EUR) also includes admission to the exhibition “From Gothic to Art Nouveau”. We invite you to arrive early to explore the exhibition before the concert and enrich the musical experience with the diversity of European art history.
