CONCERT | Appassionante

Appassionante is an Italian music trio made up of Giorgia Villa, Mara Tanchisa, and Stefania Frankabandiera. It is recognized worldwide as the first female trio working in the opera-pop crossover genre.

The group was founded in Rome in 2006 at the initiative of producer Mauro Borzellino and his record company Overlook Italia. The aim was to create a crossover of classical and pop music performed by three Mediterranean women, professional opera singers. This mix of lyrical and light music immediately drew huge interest: from the very beginning, the singers performed at many festivals and events, touring successfully throughout Italy and around the world, captivating audiences with their uniqueness and originality.

Thanks to Overlook Italia's collaboration with major German media companies, the Appassionante project reached a new level, which led to the release of their first album, titled “Appassionante,” in Europe and beyond. Success was immediate, and the group began performing actively, including on television shows on leading Italian and international channels. Giving more than 100 concerts a year, the artists toured the world, performing both at open-air stages and in prestigious theaters.

A special feature of their style, which brought them international fame, is a strong element of “Italianness.” Their deep roots in Italian opera culture and their ability to combine tradition with modernity by reinterpreting opera arias, even those originally written for tenor or baritone, allowed them to masterfully and expressively unite two beloved genres: opera and popular music.

Another important feature of the group is the universality of their repertoire: they sing in many languages and dialects, including Italian, Neapolitan, English, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Hebrew, and Latin.

In 2010, they became the face of the airline Airberlin, for which they recorded the song “Wings.” It became a worldwide video hit and was included in the compilation Passion, released by Warner Music in 2011.
