Concert "SONG PEARLS" in Ķegums | Anta Eņģele & Melisa Debora Kaškura

During the month of their birthdays, the singer-songwriters Anta Eņģele and Melisa Debora Kaškura invite listeners to meet at a special concert filled with the most beautiful Latvian melodies, "Song Pearls"!

On November 7 at 6: 00 PM at the Ķegums Community Center, the song pearls of Latvian composers will be sung by the beloved singer-songwriter Anta Eņģele and the younger-generation singer-songwriter Melisa Debora Kaškura. Anta’s wise voice and Melisa Debora’s sparkling youthful voice are a duo that connects the past with the future, depth with clarity, and this union can harmonize, heal, and delight every open heart.

A singer-songwriter is like a pearl diver. Countless melodies are intertwined in the river’s flow, and from the depths are brought up SONG PEARLS - beloved, familiar, and also forgotten, perhaps never before heard. At the concert, the singers will gift listeners the most beautiful, most emotional, and most radiant melodies with lyrics by outstanding poets, as well as moving, interesting, amusing stories - about songs and about life. Works by Imants Kalniņš, Raimonds Pauls, Alfrēds Krūkļis, Jānis Lūsēns, Zigmar Liepiņš, Aigars Voitišķis, Valts Pūce, Juris Kulakovs, and other composers will be performed.

Anta Eņģele - singer, singer-songwriter, healer, and also an Austra's child, meaning a student of the legendary singer-songwriter Austra Pumpure. Perhaps it was Austra who taught Anta to love and feel her audience so deeply, and to make music with joy for years and years, to sing and reach such a large audience, enjoying the love it gives at concerts throughout Latvia and beyond. With her guitar and her voice, Anta pleasantly enchants listeners, and without realizing it, one feels the urge to sing along, to sound out, to co-create this event - the song. In this way, each person experiences the song within themselves even more truthfully - from the heart.

Melisa Debora Kaškura - a younger-generation singer-songwriter whose name began to resonate in the world of singer-songwriters with her participation in the young singer-songwriter competition "Tīrradnis" in 2020. However, the faces and voices of these modern-day troubadours and Austra's children had connected much earlier, strengthening the conviction that it is important to carry forward the melodies and ideas contained in the songs of Latvian singer-songwriters, so that they may also brighten the spacetime of the next generations. Melisa Debora's repertoire has formed, and continues to form, like a colorful quilt, drawing threads of songs from the music of Imants Kalniņš, Zigmar Liepiņš, Jānis Lūsēns, Juris Kulakovs, and other composers, as well as from the aforementioned singer-songwriter community.
