My Father
MY FATHER — Aleksandras Rubinovas
One actor. One family fate.
And a whole human life that gradually unfolds before the audience.
“My Father” is a chamber production based on the true family story of Lithuanian director Stanislovas Rubinovas (1930–2013) — a family that survived the Holocaust.
His son, actor and director Aleksandras Rubinovas, tells about his father, childhood and family, about fear and survival, about love and the people who stay by your side in the hardest moments of life.
This is not a retelling of history and not a heavy message about the past. It is a deeply personal stage story, with humor, pain, warmth, and genuine openness.
There is only one actor on stage, yet as the performance unfolds, a whole world comes alive before the audience’s eyes, people, characters, and destinies.
Aleksandras Rubinovas seems to relive his memories once again, together with the audience. Gradually, one family’s experience becomes close and understandable to everyone. This is a performance about our parents, memories, and choices, about love and a person’s ability to preserve dignity even when hope seems almost lost.
The intimate space of STADIA intensifies the feeling of closeness in the performance. Here, the usual distance between actor and audience almost disappears, every intonation can be heard, every gesture and the slightest change in facial expression can be noticed.
Aleksandras Rubinovas
