Mārcis Auziņš and Beāte Zviedre in the poetry concert “A Fairy Tale Sits on the Threshold...”

We invite you to a special musical evening in which two outstanding Latvian musicians, the virtuoso guitarist Mārcis Auziņš and the unique Beāte Zviedre, will come together to set Aspazija’s poetry to music.

The concert “A Fairy Tale Sits on the Threshold...” is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the great Latvian poet Aspazija. It will be a meeting with Aspazija’s poetry and music in a different soundscape, delicate, mysterious, and at the same time surprisingly modern.

In the concert program, Mārcis Auziņš and Beāte Zviedre will weave together melodies created by Jānis Lūsēns, Raimonds Pauls, and Zigmars Liepiņš, inspired by Aspazija’s poetry, as well as soundscapes composed by themselves. Guitar strings, voice, and poetic words will merge into one musical story, allowing Aspazija’s world to be seen and felt anew.
