MAUGLIS - rock opera

In tribute to composer Mārtiņš Brauns on the occasion of his 75th anniversary, in the autumn of 2026 the Latvian Youth Theatre will offer audiences the composer’s most ambitious rock opera for children and families, "Mauglis". The rock opera "Mauglis" is the largest musical production for children and young people created in recent years. It is a new staging of the 1982 Youth Theatre production, which premiered in October 2021 and became the last event in which Mārtiņš Brauns took part before passing away.

Cast: Igors Siliņš, Kārlis Tols, Rūdolfs Juris Trēziņš, Sanita Misika, Aija Dzērve, Juris Vizbulis, Edgars Lipors, Māris Skrodis, Jānis Skanis or Laila Kirmuška, Jēkabs Reinis, Juris Millers, Anatolijs Kreipāns, Elīna Bojarkina, Rihards Zelezņevs or Rodrigo Struka, and Jānis Kirmuška. The performance features the folk dance ensemble Dzintariņš.

Director Jānis Mūrnieks, choreographer Sanita Misika, vocal coach Ieva Sutugova, costume designer and scenographer Linda Līva Oše, arranger Kristaps Krievkalns, producer Juris Millers.

The jury of the Excellence Award of the Latvian Event Forum recognized the rock opera "Mauglis" as the most outstanding cultural event of 2021, while the company "Biļešu paradīze" presented its creators with a special award for the most viewed cultural event in the online environment.

The performance is included in the "Latvijas Skolas soma" program.
