P-JAZZ | AMPHITRIO + Jam Session

On November 13, Amphitrio, a striking contemporary jazz trio from Romania known for its original sound, bold improvisation, and refined musical language, will perform at Pegaza Viesistaba.

The trio consists of pianist and composer Andrei Petrache, bassist Aleksandru Marins (Mike Alex), and drummer Philip Goron. In Amphitrio's compositions, modern jazz blends organically with Nordic jazz moods, influences from Balkan and Eastern music, the energy of heavy rock, and elements of electronic music, creating a unique and multilayered sound world.

With the albums "Points, Seasons" (2023) and "Timelines" (2024), Amphitrio has secured its place in the European contemporary jazz scene, giving more than 100 concerts in Europe, Asia, and the USA.

Pianist and composer Andrei Petrache graduated from the National University of Music in Bucharest with a master's degree in composition. His works have received more than 30 international awards and are performed widely across Europe and Asia.

Bassist Mike Alex (Aleksandru Marins) works with the Bucharest Jazz Orchestra, Big Band Radio, the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra, and several notable jazz and academic music artists.

Meanwhile, drummer Philip Goron is a sought-after musician in classical, world music, and jazz projects, collaborating with the George Enescu Philharmonic and the Bucharest National Operetta and Musical Theatre. He is also an official SONOR artist.

The Amphitrio concert will be a chance to experience contemporary jazz without stylistic boundaries, dynamic, emotionally rich, and musically exciting. The evening will be suitable both for jazz fans and for listeners who want to discover new and unusual musical experiences. As is typical for P-JAZZ concerts, a jam session will follow later in the evening, when everyone who wants to improvise will be welcome on stage.

The event may be filmed and photographed. The collected materials may be used for event publicity.

The event is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation.
