Event for young people “Future Museum. Bloma. Kroma”
At the permanent exhibition of the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music, “Procrastination and Creation,” at 6 Mārstaļu Street in Riga, the second event in the “Future Museum” series, “Future Museum. Bloma. Kroma,” will take place on 24 October at 5:00 p.m., with musical accompaniment by Kristaps Gatis Caunītis. At the event, the Future Museum TV program “Homeland” will present a conversation about the significance of poetry in today’s and tomorrow’s society, as well as a discussion about the poets Elvīra Bloma and Monta Kroma, with actor and musician Igors Šelegovskis taking part in the performance.
“Future Museum” is a series of six events at the Latvian National Museum of Literature and Music, in which six contemporary women writers enter into a dialogue with literary history during solo evenings. By choosing as their conversation partners the literary classics represented in the exhibition “Procrastination and Creation,” or by focusing on themes connected with the creative process, the authors will seek links between literary history and visions of the future of cultural heritage preservation. The central figures of the series are this year’s jubilarian writers Ingmāra Balode, Elvīra Bloma, Inga Gaile, Luīze Pastore, Madara Gruntmane, and Inga Pizāne.
The central event will be performances created by the poets, in which, interpreting the theme of the “future museum,” they will present readings, share their experience, offer workshops, or surprise audiences with inventions in other disciplines. Flash exhibitions are also planned, featuring objects belonging to the poets, possible future museum exhibits.
The musical introduction and closing of the event will be provided by students of the Emīls Dārziņš Music Secondary School, who, under the guidance of teacher Andris Dzenītis, have created new works - compositions inspired by the poetry of both contemporary women poets and the literary classics they have chosen.
