CERYS HAFANA (UK)

ANA CARLA MAZA (CUB) & SINFONIETTA RIGA

On November 6, 2026, Cēsis Concert Hall will host a special two-part concert:

in the first part of the evening, Welsh artist Cerys Hafana will perform, while the second part will feature Ana Carla Maza's symphonic project ALAMAR - A Symphonic Suite together with Sinfonietta Riga.

The concert will open with Cerys Hafana - one of the brightest young British folk musicians, a triple harp player and composer from Wales. Her work combines traditional and contemporary elements, drawing inspiration from archival materials, folk songs, psalms, and experimental sound ideas. Cerys Hafana creates a hypnotic and atmospheric sound, where the acoustic harp blends organically with elements of electronics. Her album Edyf was included in The Guardian's top ten folk albums of 2022 and nominated for the Welsh Music Prize, while performances at WOMAD, Green Man, and Trans Musicales festivals confirm her international acclaim.

In the second part of the evening, cellist, singer, and composer Ana Carla Maza, together with Sinfonietta Riga, will present a special symphonic program - ALAMAR - A Symphonic Suite. In this project, the artist transforms her musical world into a full orchestral format, where her voice and cello form a nuanced dialogue with the orchestra. The work blends elements of contemporary classical music, jazz, and Latin American traditions, creating a refined and emotionally rich sound.

ALAMAR - A Symphonic Suite is a vivid and multilayered musical experience where rhythmic energy meets melodic sensitivity and the expressive power of the symphonic ensemble. The project highlights Ana Carla Maza's distinctive artistic identity and her ability to elegantly combine different music genres. Internationally recognized as one of the brightest voices in contemporary crossover music, the artist offers listeners a bold, exciting, and deeply personal concert experience in this program.
