A musical evening of humor to send off the old year and begin the New Year

The turn of the year is relentless! It does not care about global warming, pays no attention to Cabinet regulations, takes no part in political intrigue, and turns a blind eye to the twists and turns of ordinary people’s lives. For the turn of the year there are only two reference points: December 31 and January 1. Yet all of us, the people of our own republic, are joined in marriage to these dates, dividing life into two stages: the race up to December 31 and the new life from January 1. The night of the turn of the year itself is just a luxurious stop along this eternal circle, where the bus, train, or plane of life pulls in for about 8 hours.

After a several-year break, the much-loved humor evenings return to the theater club “Eastern Border” with an exclusive musical program about the above-mentioned subject. In short, lively sketches and musical numbers, we will laugh together at our race toward the turn of the year, the night of the turn of the year itself, and the beginning of a new life, waking up on January 1 or sometimes January 2.

The humor evening “Republic at the Turn of the Year” is created by the same core creative team behind the previous humor evenings in the series “Our Own Republic” - Kārlis Anitens, Anna Šteina, and Zane Vaļicka (incidentally, their vocal and phonogram ensemble will also perform in this program). And of course, the creative core has also drawn in their wonderful colleagues, Zane Burnicka and Madara Zvaguļa, into its sparkling atomic mass. This six-member team from the theater club “Eastern Border” has stayed together for many years and has made thousands of theatergoers smile and laugh.

In the humor evening “Republic at the Turn of the Year,” the audience can expect encounters with colorful characters, familiar situations, popular songs, and dances known by heart. In short, there is nothing new under the sun. If there is, you will be the first to know!
