The Nutcracker - Music from the Ballet

Okoncert presents: Holiday New Year’s Concert "The Nutcracker" - Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s music from the legendary ballet!

There are things without which it is hard to imagine December.

Lights in the city streets. The scent of pine needles and mandarins. And the music from the ballet "The Nutcracker", which has been performed for more than a hundred years at Christmas and New Year celebrations around the world.

For many, going to "The Nutcracker" has long been part of a winter tradition. We invite you to spend this year-end evening with us and feel the approach of the festive season together.

A quintet of harp, violin, cello, percussion, and organ will perform the most beloved fragments from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet.

Performers:

Organ - Ilona Birģele (Latvia, internationally recognized organist, head of the festival "Latvia - Land of the Organ");

Violin - Ilze Kirsanova (musician of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra);

Cello - Irina Viļegžaņina (Latvia, laureate of international competitions, soloist and chamber musician);

Harp - Jekaterina Suvorova (musician of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra);

Percussion - Virdžīnija Laube-Vītiņa (musician of the Orchestra of the Latvian National Opera).

Familiar childhood melodies will reveal themselves in an unusual sound, and the space of St. Paul’s Church, the lighting, and the festive decorations will create a special evening atmosphere.

There are traditions we long to return to. And perhaps one of them will begin right here.

*the musicians are located in the stalls, by the altar
