Riga FC - FK Jablonec, UEFA Conference League football match

"Riga FC" is making a historic debut in the main stage of a European competition (the league phase). To reach this stage, "Riga FC" went through a tense and long qualification campaign, showing character on the European football stage.

Starting this season, the familiar group stage has been replaced by a single league phase featuring 36 teams. All teams play six matches against different opponents (three at home, three away), and points are counted in one overall table. The match against "FK Jablonec" will be "Riga FC"'s second home game in the league phase of this season's UEFA Conference League.

2nd qualifying round: The North Macedonian club "FK Vardar" was convincingly defeated 8:4 over two legs.

3rd qualifying round: In a fierce battle, the Hungarian side "ETO FC Győr" was beaten 2:1 on aggregate.

Play-off round: In the decisive stage, the Riga team defeated the Faroe Islands champions "Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag" (KÍ) 2:1 over two matches, securing a place among the best teams.

"Riga FC"'s opponents, "FK Jablonec", are a professional Czech football club from Jablonec nad Nisou, founded in 1945. Although the club has always lived in the shadow of the Prague giants ("Sparta" and "Slavia") and Viktoria "Plzeň" in the Czech league, its trophy cabinet is not empty. It has won the Czech Cup twice and the Czech Super Cup once.

The Czech football club has already visited Riga this season, when it defeated Riga football club "RFS" 2:1 (4:1 on aggregate) in the 3rd qualifying round of this same Conference League competition. Then, in the play-off round, Scottish giants Glasgow "Rangers" were unexpectedly defeated.
