Rihards Zaļupe "The Ring of Namejs in Concert"

Rihards Zaļupe and GreenRiver Music invite you to experience the film “The Ring of Namejs” in a never-before-heard way: on the big screen, with its music performed live by an ensemble of 15 professional musicians.

On this evening, cinema and concert will become one shared event. The film’s original score, composed by Rihards Zaļupe, will be performed live in sync with the film, allowing audiences to experience the familiar story anew, much more closely to the music, its power, and the nuances that often go unnoticed during a film screening.

For this concert, Rihards Zaļupe has created a new orchestration of the score for fifteen musicians. The live performance will bring together strings, flutes, guitars, percussion, voices, and electronics, preserving the scale of the film’s music while giving it a new sense of presence. The music of “The Ring of Namejs in Concert” weaves together melody, strong rhythmic energy, and timbres and moods inspired by Latvian traditional music.

“The Ring of Namejs in Concert” is the next event in the concert series “A Film in Concert,” created by Rihards Zaļupe and GreenRiver Music, continuing the idea of bringing Latvian film scores from the screen into a live concert experience.
