In the dramaturgy readings on the theme of sexuality, it is neither a scandal nor a cliché, but an experience - fragile, awkward, funny, painful, and true. Young and experienced authors present texts in which the body speaks as loudly as the mind, while the silence between the lines is just as meaningful as openness.

These readings are not meant to shock - they are meant to help us recognize ourselves. Come listen to how drama touches on what is usually spoken about in whispers. Honest expression is already a brave artistic act in itself.

The reading series “Sex and Latvia” invites you to a conversation about a topic that matters to all of us, even if it is not always comfortable. Artists are given complete freedom - both in form and content - because one of art’s tasks is to address topics that have been explored less, in this case examining sexuality both as a broader and a more personal phenomenon.

After each reading, there will be a conversation with the audience, moderated by playwright Linda Rudene and enriched with a professional perspective and expertise by clinical psychologist Kristīne Balode, who specializes in couple therapy and sexology. Questions, comments, and opinions are very welcome - they will help the authors develop their ideas and help all of us become a little freer in talking about sexuality.
