The Nutcracker

“The Nutcracker” is the first large-scale joint project of the Liepāja Puppet Theatre and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. This musical puppet and mask performance for preschool and primary school children is created in inspiration from Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann’s fairy tale and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s world-famous music.

The performance invites the audience on a journey full of fantasy, where the everyday turns into the miraculous and imagination becomes the main guide. Various puppet theatre techniques, masks, objects, light, and acting will create a visually layered world in which unexpected transformations and discoveries are possible.

This concert performance combines the art of classical music and puppet theatre, offering children an aesthetically rich, emotionally engaging, and imagination-stimulating experience.
