Spanish Flamenco PUERTO FLAMENCO. PURO

On November 21, the theater house Jūras vārti will be filled with the passion of Andalusia and flamenco rhythms, as the fiery Seville flamenco troupe Puerto Flamenco visits Ventspils.

Since its founding in 2004, Puerto Flamenco has become one of the most striking contemporary flamenco troupes in Spain, combining authentic Andalusian flamenco traditions with contemporary stage direction, visual aesthetics, and an original artistic vision. The troupe’s motto, “We do not change flamenco to fit the stage, we change the stage to fit flamenco,” accurately reflects its creative philosophy.

Puerto Flamenco performances stand out for their unbridled energy, freedom of improvisation, technical virtuosity, and emotional intensity. In them, dance, guitar music, vocals, and percussion merge into a single artistic story, taking audiences into the world of Spanish culture, rhythm, and passion.

Visitors to the theater house Jūras vārti will have the chance to experience the performance PURO, a flamenco show that reveals the essence of this art in its purest form. Alongside carefully crafted choreography and musical dramaturgy, improvisation plays an important role, giving each performance a unique character. Tradition and contemporary creative expression come together here as one, allowing the power, emotional depth, and artistic diversity of flamenco to be rediscovered.

The performance features internationally acclaimed flamenco artists, dancers Miguel El Rubio and Abel Harán, singer Tremendo Hijo, virtuoso guitarist David Caro, Puerto Flamenco’s lead dancer Francesca La Chica, and Serbian-born percussionist Andrej Vuhičič, who has linked his artistic path with Seville. Each of them brings their own creative signature to the performance, together forming a vivid ensemble that respectfully continues flamenco traditions while boldly expanding the boundaries of this art form.

PURO is more than a flamenco performance, it is an emotional encounter with one of Spain’s most striking cultural expressions, where passion, mastery, and the freedom of improvisation create an unforgettable stage experience.
