BRUNO ANGELINI TRIO LOTUS FLOWERS. Jazz Concert

Bruno Angelini (Bruno Angelini, France) – piano, compositions

Sakina Abdou (Sakina Abdou, France) – tenor saxophone

Angelika Niescier (Angelika Niescier, Germany) – alto saxophone

The concert program of the international jazz trio Lotus Flowers will be performed at Latgale Embassy GORS, bringing together three outstanding European jazz figures: French pianist and composer Bruno Angelini, tenor saxophonist Sakina Abdou, and award-winning alto saxophonist Angelika Niescier. Their jointly created music weaves together heartfelt melodies, bold improvisation, and the boundless freedom of expression of contemporary jazz.

The inspiration for the concert program is the legendary jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter and his story about the lotus flower, which can bloom even in muddy water, becoming a symbol of light, hope, and resilience. This idea runs through Bruno Angelini’s original compositions dedicated to people whose courage and conviction have helped make the world a better place, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, environmental activist Berta Cáceres, and others. The distinctive sound is shaped by an unusual line-up of instruments, piano and two saxophones without a traditional rhythm section. Influenced by free jazz, blues, and contemporary music, the trio creates a rich musical dialogue in which fragile melody alternates with powerful energy, spontaneity, and emotional depth.
