Varang Nord / Voices of Freedom Tour | Riga

November is the most important and patriotic month for the people of Latvia, so the Daugavpils folk/death metal band “Varang Nord” will go on a Baltic concert tour called “Voices of Freedom,” during which they will celebrate Latvia’s independence together with audiences in five cities in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

During the tour, the band will perform in Riga, Liepaja, Vilnius, Tartu, and Tallinn, offering listeners their distinctive folk/death metal sound, where heavy music, accordion melodies, the Latgalian language, and motifs inspired by historical cultural heritage intertwine. For the band, this is not just a series of concerts - it is an opportunity to tell the story of Latvian and Latgalian culture through music, strengthen ties with the Baltic neighbors, and celebrate freedom together.

The band “Varang Nord” was founded in 2014. Its brightest international achievement is winning the band competition Wacken Metal Battle 2019, held as part of the world’s largest metal festival, Wacken Open Air. The band has performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Kilkim Žaibu, and Full Metal Holiday, and has also toured in more than 15 European countries.

The studio album “Mygla,” released in 2025, received the Latvian Metal Music Award as Album of the Year, and last year the band was also nominated for the GAMMA Award in the category “Metal Music Artist of the Year.”

The concert in Riga will take place on Friday, November 20, at the Depo club. Special guests for the event will be announced later.
