Christmas Organ - Christmas Organ Concert

OKoncert invites you on 26 December to a Christmas organ concert by candlelight.

For centuries, the organ has been an integral part of Europe’s Christmas musical traditions. Works composed for it are still performed in cathedrals and concert halls during the Christmas season.

Under the vaults of St. Paul’s Church, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Louis Vierne, and other composers will be heard.

At the historic organ, Ilona Birģele, chief organist of Riga St. James’s Cathedral and artistic director of the Historic Organ Festival "Latvia - the Land of Organs," will perform. She regularly appears at Riga Cathedral and gives concerts throughout Europe.

The church’s neo-Gothic vaults, candlelight, and the sound of the organ will create a Christmas atmosphere.

For some, this concert will be their first encounter with the organ. For others, it will already be an established tradition without which it is hard to imagine the last days of December.

*Please note: the concert will be performed on the historic organ of St. Paul’s Church. All musicians will be seated in the balcony.

For the audience’s convenience, a video broadcast will be available in the hall, allowing you not only to hear the music but also to see the performance in detail, making your experience as comfortable as possible.

Do not miss it!
