Double Bass

The largest of the string instruments rarely comes to the forefront to play a solo, despite the fact that the double bass has a velvety timbre, elegant lines, and demands of its owner that he always stay in good physical shape in order to stand for hours at a time. Sooner or later, the musician is forced to ask himself whether this is all you can do, or whether your ego is willing to spend a whole lifetime as a velvety backdrop for others. Thousands of spectators have seen the National Theatre actor Gundars Grasbergs and his “romance” with the double bass on stage, and now, through Süskind’s text, both ironic and poignant backstage secrets will be revealed.
