A big band mood for the holidays in Riga

The legendary trumpeter, composer, and Pulitzer Prize winner Wynton Marsalis, together with the world-renowned JLCO he founded, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, will perform a special “Big Band Holidays” program at the Daile Theatre on November 29.

Wynton Marsalis is a legend, one of the most influential figures in music in the world - an outstanding trumpeter, composer, and ambassador of American culture whose achievements extend beyond the boundaries of jazz and classical music.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, founded by Marsalis, is rightly regarded as the world’s best jazz orchestra. Together with Marsalis, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra has toured extensively around the world, but in 2026 it will arrive in the Baltics and Riga for the first time.

What makes the orchestra’s visit and concert at the Pink Noise Riga festival unique is the fact that, for the first time outside the USA, the orchestra will perform a Christmas-themed music program, “Big Band Holidays,” specially arranged for this big band.

Pink Noise Riga, the capital’s music festival, which was first heard in the autumn of 2024 in the company of Branford Marsalis and the Latvian Radio Big Band, offers a cocktail of world-class jazz, pop rock, fusion, and contemporary improvised music. The festival’s main idea is to fill Riga with style and help Latvia’s capital shine in Europe!

In the 2026 season, the festival replaces its summer format with two sessions in spring (April 10-12) and autumn (November 27-29). Tickets are already available for the concert by British jazz star and saxophonist Nubya Garcia at Palladium on April 11, as well as for the Baltic debut of legendary American musician Wynton Marsalis and the world-famous Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, which will take place at the Daile Theatre on November 29, 2026.

The Pink Noise Riga festival, whose main idea is to fill Latvia’s capital with style, is created by fans of good music and Riga - the team of Aigars Nords, founder of the Rimi Riga Marathon and Riga Wine & Champagne (Nords Event Communications), in cooperation with Dāvis Jurka, director of the Latvian Radio Big Band.
