Music lives in the streets and clubs, rhythm blends with everyday steps, and the voices of different cultures over the centuries have created one of the most colorful and unique traditions in American music - the blues.

The vocal jazz group “Assembly Singers”, known for its spirit of creative exploration and diverse vocal sound, has this time turned to the special aesthetics of New Orleans, or Louisiana music. The distinctive charm of Louisiana blues will be shaped by the singers of “Assembly Singers” together with outstanding musicians Aleksandrs Tomass Matjussons, who is also the author and arranger of this program (piano), Ariane Seviško (guitar, voice), Pēteris Liepiņš (double bass), Vadim Dmitriev (trombone), Sandis Skeranskis (trumpet), and Artis Orubs (percussion).

The piano defines the space, the guitar adds the characteristic color and movement of the blues, the double bass becomes its rhythmic foundation, while the trombone and trumpet give the sound the characteristic New Orleans liveliness and temperamental character. Percussion unites all this diversity into a single pulse, but above all is the voice, which, with subtle timbral nuances, allows the listener not only to hear the music, but also to feel it.

In this music, alongside the melancholy of the blues, there is always movement, liveliness, warmth, and joy. The music seems to breathe and change continuously. It is a story of human experience - longing and loss, love and loneliness, faith and hope, and the ability to celebrate life. New Orleans blues is not just a genre - it is a special way of experiencing the world. Like a musical crossroads where the emotional depth of the blues meets the freedom of jazz improvisation, the spirituality of gospel, the energy of rhythm and blues and soul, the pulse of funk, and the diversity of Creole music. This diversity has created a sound in which the boundaries between genres nearly disappear.
